Privacy Policy

Secure File Drop is a private, self-hosted file sharing service. This policy explains what information we handle when you use the service.

1. Information We Collect

• Uploaded files — files you upload are stored on the server for the duration you select (1–30 days) and then automatically deleted.
• File metadata — filename, size, MIME type, upload timestamp, expiry timestamp, and download count are stored in a local database.
• Server logs — the web server may log your IP address and request details as part of standard operation.

2. How We Use Information

• Uploaded files are used solely to generate a shareable link and to serve downloads.
• File metadata is used to manage storage and display file details on the preview page.
• We do not sell, share, or transmit your data to any third parties.

3. Data Retention

Files are stored for the expiry period you choose at upload time and are deleted automatically afterwards. You can request early deletion by contacting the administrator.

4. Cookies and Sessions

A session cookie is used only for the admin panel authentication. No tracking or advertising cookies are set.

5. Owner Access to Your Files

Your files are private. The service owner does not routinely access or view uploaded files. The only circumstance in which the owner may access a file's contents is if the file is flagged as malware or otherwise identified as harmful content — in order to investigate and remove it.

6. Security

Files are stored on a private server. Each file is assigned a cryptographically random link that is not guessable. We take reasonable precautions to protect stored data, but no system is 100% secure — do not upload sensitive personal information.

7. Third-Party Services

The file preview page requests a QR code image from api.qrserver.com. This request includes the shareable link URL so a QR code can be generated. No other third-party services are used.

8. Your Rights

You may request deletion of any file you have uploaded by contacting the service administrator. Because files are shared via anonymous links, we are unable to identify who uploaded a file without additional context.

9. Changes to This Policy

This policy may be updated at any time. Continued use of the service constitutes acceptance of the current policy.
